“How floating naked may offer relief from pain, stress”

Although numerous mind and body benefits may be achieved after just one session, continued float therapy can enhance immune function, promote recovery from injuries, and allow the body to “reset” stress response hormones.  Many float therapy effects are cumulative and the positive impact can last for months following a series of sessions.

For example, one study found spending time in a float tank resulted in participants feeling “a sense of deep relaxation” and reduced symptoms of chronic pain (Kjellgren, 2000).  Additional research has concluded that float therapy is an effective method of treatment for stress-related pain.   In that study, participants also fell asleep easier following flotation tank treatment and experienced a higher quality of sleep (Bood, 2006).
